Interview format

This will be an audio and video interview that will be published to podcasting platforms, my website, my email newsletter, and possibly to YouTube/Vimeo and social media platforms like LinkedIn.

Before we start recording, we’ll spend a few minutes chatting so I can get to know your background a little. At the start of the interview, I’ll ask about your background and a few follow up questions based on that. Then, we will move on to the main question for the episode (highlighted below).

This will be a pretty relaxed, free-flowing conversation. I will guide things along with some of the questions listed below if the conversation strays too far off topic.

There’s no set time for how long the interview will be, but I expect it to wrap up within 20-60 minutes. At the end, I’ll ask for a summary of step-by-step practical advice that others could use to implement your idea. I’ll also give you the opportunity to spotlight your work or promote your company.

Main question for episode

What is a marketing campaign or tactic you implemented that you believe had a significant social impact?

Examples of follow-up questions I may ask during the interview

How did you come up with this campaign or tactic?

What challenges was your company/team facing before you all implemented this campaign or tactic?

How do you balance the pursuit of profit with the importance of social impact?

  1. How do you ensure that your marketing strategies align with your company’s social responsibility goals?
  2. How do you ensure your marketing practices adhere to ethical standards, and how do you communicate this to your customers?
  3. How has focusing on social impact and sustainability influenced your company’s brand image and customer relationships?

Questions I will ask at the end

  • What specific tactics did you use to implement your one biggest piece of wisdom?
    • List these tactics step by step so others could follow (try to keep it to 3-5 steps)
    • What pitfalls might other people come across if they try to implement this?
    • What are your tips to make sure these steps are successful
  • What were the results after you implemented this new idea?
  • Time to shine a spotlight on you – any projects you’re working on, anything you’d like people to know, and anywhere you’d like people to get in touch with you?

Notes on how to prepare for the interview

One week before the meeting

  • (Optional) Look over the questions listed above, and think about how you would respond, especially to the main highlighted questions.

A few minutes before the meeting

  • Try to find a quiet area with a neutral background behind you and light in front of you
  • Check to make sure your computer is charged
  • Keep a water bottle nearby
  • To ensure a strong internet connection – optionally, turn off other devices in your home that are using WiFi and/or have a mobile hotspot to connect to as a backup
